Ubuntu question - running GameMaker as root issue

Hello,

I've installed the GameMaker beta to to /opt/GameMaker-Beta but the only way I can get it to run is by running the program as root, which I obviously don't want to do. Running it as not root causes a segmentation fault.

Is it possible to install and run GameMaker without needing to launch the program as root, or is there an obvious error I've made in the installation process? I simply installed all required dependencies and then ran the deb package install, I haven't done anything...
