No audio with silent switch on, iOS

Hi, I'm not getting any audio on iOS without toggling the physical silent switch on the side of the phone. This is with both iOS exports and html5 exports on the web.

I understand it has something to do with this, but I don't know how to implement it: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avfaudio/avaudiosession

Anyone know a way fix for this? It's driving me mad.
