"Selection Only" is beyond annoying

I press [CTRL F] - sometimes "Selection Only" is on, sometimes it's not. I don't want it on - ever, like literally ever. Every time it is on, for whatever reason it is - I have to navigate to the top right corner of the code editor window and UNCHECK it. Over and over, hundreds of times a week.

Is there a way to disable this "feature"? I'm not sure when it was added but it is a fairly new addition and is driving me CRAZY.
